Ultrafuse® Support Layer is a vital ceramic-based filament for metal 3D printing. Used with the DD print core on S-Series printers, it prevents supports from sintering to metal parts, enabling complex geometries and a smooth surface finish.

The Ultrafuse® Support Layer is a breakthrough material designed specifically for use in the metal FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) process. When printing with stainless steel filaments like 17-4 PH or 316L, the metal particles fuse together during the sintering process. Without this specialised ceramic-based barrier, metal support structures would permanently weld to your part.
The Support Layer acts as a non-sintering interface between the part and its supports. This ensures that even after the intense heat of the sintering furnace, supports can be easily removed, leaving behind a high-quality surface finish and allowing for the creation of complex internal channels and ambitious overhangs.
