BASF Forward AM Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH: Stainless Steel for Professional FFF

UltiMaker Certified Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH is a high-performance metal-polymer composite filament that allows you to produce solid stainless steel parts on your desktop. This material is ideal for industrial applications in the petrochemical, aerospace, automotive, and medical sectors. Once post-processed, the parts can be fully heat-treated to achieve exceptional strength and hardness, matching the properties of parts created through traditional Metal Injection Moulding (MIM).

The workflow follows a three-step process: printing a "green part," followed by catalytic debinding and sintering at a specialised facility to remove the polymer binder and fuse the metal particles into a dense, solid steel component.

Mandatory requirements & compatibility:

• Required Print Cores: Use with the Print Core CC 0.4 (for the metal) and Print Core DD 0.4 (for the support layer).
• Adhesion: UltiMaker recommends Magigoo Pro Metal as the essential bonding agent to prevent warping.
• Air Filtration: It is mandatory to use a filter to capture fine particles. Use the Air Manager for the S5/S7 or the Top Cover for the S3.

Note: This material is not compatible with the UltiMaker 3 family. Use is strictly limited to the UltiMaker S3, S5, and S7 due to the requirement for hardened feeders and enclosed filtration.
