The NFC fin assembly is a sophisticated internal component designed to facilitate the "Pro Bundle" material management experience. Serving as the vertical separator between spool bays, each fin houses an integrated Near-Field Communication (NFC) antenna. This antenna is responsible for automatically detecting and identifying UltiMaker material spools as soon as they are loaded. By reading the embedded chip in the spool, the fin communicates the material type, colour, and remaining filament length directly to the printer's software, eliminating the need for manual configuration.

If one of your material bays is no longer recognising official UltiMaker spools, or if the "NFC not detected" error persists despite using compatible materials, the internal antenna or the fin's connector may have been damaged. Replacing the individual fin assembly restores the automated workflow and ensures your Material Station continues to track your filament inventory with industrial precision.
