Description

CerMark LMM-6000 laser marking spray

CerMark LMM-6000 is the industry-standard auxiliary material for creating permanent, high-contrast black marks on metal surfaces using a CO2 or fibre laser. By applying this coating before processing, the laser energy fuses the marking material to the substrate, resulting in a durable bond. The ethanol-based solvent ensures the coating dries quickly, allowing for a fast and efficient workflow.

Compatible metals:

Laser marking with CerMark LMM-6000 is highly effective on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including:

  • Stainless steel and untreated steel
  • Aluminium and titanium
  • Brass and copper
  • Nickel, tin, and chrome

Optimising your results:

While CerMark delivers excellent results across many substrates, we recommend creating test pieces to determine the optimal settings for your specific laser machine. Factors such as the underlying material, laser type, power output, and the required level of detail will all influence the final finish. Generally, softer metals require higher power combined with a slower marking speed.

Instructions for use:

CerMark LMM-6000 is supplied ready to use in an aerosol format. For a consistent finish, follow these steps:

  • Mixing: Shake the can vigorously for at least two minutes until the mixing ball is clearly heard rattling. Failure to mix thoroughly can lead to nozzle clogs and an uneven coat.
  • Preparation: Ensure the workpiece surface is completely free of grease, oil, and dust. The spray should be applied at an ambient temperature between 15°C and 32°C.
  • Application: Apply a thin, even layer in one or two coats. A coating that is too thick will require more laser energy without improving the contrast of the mark.
  • Drying: The coating must be completely dry before laser processing. While it air-dries in approximately two minutes, a hairdryer or heat gun can be used to accelerate the process.

Durability and finish:

The resulting black mark is permanent and resistant to chemicals, abrasion, and high temperatures. For the best bond, the metal surface should be raw and not treated with glossy paints or clear coatings, as these can interfere with the fusion process. After laser processing, excess powder can be easily washed off with water.
