Description

Ultimaker CPE: chemical resistance and durability

Ultimaker CPE (co-polyester) materials are chemically resistant, strong, and demonstrate excellent dimensional stability. This makes the CPE family the preferred choice for functional prototypes and mechanical components that must withstand challenging environments.

While both CPE and CPE+ share similar performance characteristics, CPE+ is engineered for more demanding applications, offering significantly higher temperature resistance and increased impact strength.

Key benefits:

  • Excellent chemical resistance: Ideal for parts exposed to oils, greases, and common household chemicals.
  • High toughness and stability: Maintains its shape and structural integrity under stress, ensuring reliable dimensional accuracy.
  • Aesthetic versatility: Available in a range of colours, including grayscale options for professional-looking industrial models.
  • NFC connectivity: These spools feature an integrated NFC chip that allows your Ultimaker printer to automatically recognise the material, applying the correct print settings to ensure a successful result.

The differences between Ultimaker CPE and CPE+:

  • Temperature resistance: CPE+ can withstand temperatures of up to 100°C, whereas standard CPE is resistant up to 70°C.
  • Impact strength: CPE+ is formulated to be up to 10 times tougher than standard CPE, making it ideal for parts that may experience sudden shocks.
  • Strength: Standard CPE offers higher tensile and flexural strength for parts requiring rigidity.
  • Adhesion: While CPE typically adheres more easily to the build plate, CPE+ provides excellent results when used with the appropriate adhesion materials.

Applications:

Suitable for visual and functional prototyping, short-run production, custom components, fit testing, and industrial tooling.
