The glass build plate is the foundational printing surface for the UltiMaker 2+ Connect, S3, and the classic UltiMaker 2 and 3 series. This 257 x 229 mm plate is precision-engineered from high-strength borosilicate glass, designed to provide the industrial flatness and thermal stability required for consistent 3D printing. The mirror-smooth surface ensures that the base of every printed part has a professional, glossy finish while maintaining excellent contact for heat transfer from the build plate heater.
As the glass panel is a consumable component, it may eventually show signs of wear, such as surface scratches or "chipping"—a process where small fragments of glass are pulled away by high-shrinkage materials. Replacing a worn build plate is a simple way to restore the reliability of your first-layer adhesion and ensure the accuracy of active levelling sensors.
