Description

Ultimaker Tough PLA: industrial strength with PLA ease

Ultimaker Tough PLA is a technical filament that combines the mechanical properties of ABS with the easy printing experience of standard PLA. It is engineered for users who require toughness and impact resistance for functional prototypes and industrial tooling, without the warping and delamination issues often associated with ABS.

With high impact strength and superior durability, Tough PLA is ideal for large-format parts that must perform under mechanical stress. Like all Ultimaker filaments, it features an integrated NFC chip for automatic material recognition and optimal print settings.

Key benefits:

  • ABS-like toughness: Offers impact strength and durability comparable to ABS, suitable for functional engineering applications.
  • User-friendly printing: Low warping and reliable adhesion, allowing large-scale prints without a heated enclosure.
  • Professional finish: Matte surface finish hides layer lines for a clean, professional appearance.
  • Dual extrusion compatibility: Perfectly matched for use with Ultimaker PVA (water-soluble) or Breakaway support materials for full geometric freedom.
  • NFC connectivity: Communicates automatically with your Ultimaker printer to apply the correct temperature and cooling profiles.

Applications:

Ideal for functional prototypes, customised manufacturing jigs and fixtures, industrial tooling, and durable end-use components.

Technical tip:

While Tough PLA is more heat-resistant than standard PLA, for parts exposed to temperatures above 60 °C, consider using Ultimaker ABS or PC instead.
