The radial fan set is a pair of high-static-pressure centrifugal fans designed for the active part-cooling system of the UltiMaker 3 and S-series print heads. Unlike standard axial fans, these radial blowers are engineered to compress air and force it through the narrow cooling ducts of the print head shroud. This creates a concentrated, high-velocity airflow directed precisely beneath the nozzle, which is essential for solidifying extruded thermoplastic instantly—enabling sharp overhangs, clean bridges, and high-detail geometries.

Operating as a symmetrical pair, these fans ensure that your prints receive equal cooling from both sides, preventing "warping" or "leaning" on complex models. Because these fans operate at high RPMs and are exposed to the ambient heat of the build chamber, their bearings can eventually wear out or become clogged with fine filament wisps.
