The Formlabs Form 2 resin tank is the primary component for material storage and light transmission in the Form 2 SLA ecosystem. Each tank features a high-clarity optical window and a precision-engineered silicone (PDMS) layer that supports the printer’s peel process. By maintaining a clean environment for your liquid photopolymer, this tank ensures the 250 mW laser passes through with maximum clarity, producing sharp details and consistent mechanical properties in every print.

For professional workflows, it is recommended to use a dedicated resin tank for each material and colour. This prevents cross-contamination, avoids lengthy cleaning routines, and preserves the purity of specialty resins such as High Temp or Tough 2000. Having multiple tanks also allows for rapid material changeovers, simply sliding the new tank into place to continue production without interruption.

Maintenance and longevity tips:

To maximise the life of your Form 2 resin tank, always use the "Model Layout" tool in PreForm to distribute prints evenly across the tank surface. Concentrating prints in one area accelerates wear and clouding of the silicone layer. Inspect the optical window on the underside for fingerprints or dust and clean only with PEC-PADs and 99% isopropyl alcohol to avoid scratches. Persistent print failures or ghosting indicate it may be time to replace the tank to restore optimal optical clarity.
