Medical-grade, biocompatible transparent resin for rigid medical devices

Formlabs BioMed Clear Resin is a high-performance, transparent material specifically designed for biocompatible applications requiring long-term skin contact (>30 days) or mucosal membrane contact (>30 hours). This USP Class VI certified material is hard, strong, and wear-resistant, making it ideal for medical manufacturing and point-of-care applications where optical clarity and low water absorption are critical. It is also certified for short-term contact with bone, tissue, and dentin (<24 hours) and is suitable for breathing gas pathways.

BioMed Clear Resin is manufactured in an FDA-registered, ISO 13485 certified facility and is supported with an FDA Device Master File. Parts printed with this resin are compatible with common sterilisation methods, including Autoclave, E-beam, and Gamma radiation. Its superior dimensional stability and excellent definition allow for the production of complex medical assemblies and end-use devices with confidence.

Post-processing:

Washing

BioMed Clear Resin may be washed using either a Formlabs-validated wash unit or an ultrasonic wash unit.

The foundational step in any SLA post-processing workflow is to remove excess resin on the surface of the parts through an alcohol wash. Please refer to the material's manufacturing guide/IFU for washing instructions.

Curing

For biocompatible materials, post-curing is necessary to achieve the safety standards determined by regulatory agencies. Please follow the material’s manufacturing guide/IFU for proper post-processing.
