The fan bracket assembly is a critical cooling component located at the base of the print head. This unit houses the dual 12V radial fans responsible for "part cooling"—the process of rapidly lowering the temperature of the extruded filament as it leaves the nozzle. Proper cooling is essential for achieving sharp overhangs, bridging long gaps, and maintaining the dimensional accuracy of fine details. By using this integrated assembly, you ensure that the airflow is directed precisely at the tip of the nozzle from both sides, preventing heat from warping the part during the build.
Over time, these fans can accumulate filament "angel hair" or dust, leading to bearing noise, reduced RPM, or complete failure. Since the fan speed is PWM-controlled and tailored to specific material profiles, a failing fan can lead to poor surface finishes or "stringing." Replacing the entire bracket assembly ensures your cooling system is restored to its original factory efficiency with a simple, bolt-on installation.
