Description

Formlabs Castable Wax Resin (Form 4) 1 L

Castable Wax Resin is a 20% wax-filled material designed specifically for investment casting. It captures intricate features with a smooth surface finish, ensuring accurate castings with zero ash content and a clean burnout. This resin is ideal for the ultrafine structures required in jewellery and for highly accurate patterns in dental prosthetics.

This 1-litre cartridge is optimised for the Form 4 ecosystem, providing high strength and stiffness for delicate designs. Parts printed with Castable Wax Resin are strong enough to handle immediately after washing, requiring no post-curing, which streamlines your production workflow.

Why choose Castable Wax Resin?

With high strength and stiffness, Castable Wax Resin makes it possible to print ultrafine and thin structures.

  • Clean, reliable casting: contains 20% wax for zero ash content and a consistent, clean burnout.
  • Faster workflow: parts require no post-curing, meaning they are ready for investment casting immediately after drying.
  • High green strength: excellent shape retention ensures that thin patterns, such as wire filigree, remain stable during handling.
  • Refined surface finish: produce patterns with no visible layer lines and smooth surfaces that require minimal manual finishing.
  • Ultrafine detail: captures complex geometries like raised text, delicate meshes, and detailed pavé settings.

Applications for Castable Wax Resin:

Castable Wax Resin is ideal for lightweight, intricate jewellery or for prototypes and production. For dental use, this material is ideal for crowns, bridges, removable partial denture frameworks, and patterns for casting and pressing.

  • Jewellery: delicate filigree designs, lightweight pieces, and custom try-on models.
  • Dental: highly accurate patterns for casting and pressing crowns, bridges, and removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks.
  • Direct investment casting: seamless transition from 3D print to final metal part for both jewellery and dental labs.
  • Prototyping: creating master patterns for high-detail custom components.

Post-processing

Washing

Wash castable parts for the shortest time necessary to remove liquid resin. Ensure that all solvent has evaporated or been removed from the parts before curing and casting.

Curing

Castable Wax Resin does not require post-curing. Allow parts to fully dry before casting. While post-curing castable wax parts should not affect castability, post-curing may shrink parts slightly (by less than 1%), which can cause distortion.

Note: Only compatible with the Formlabs Form 4 series resin printer.
